Red oak is believed to be more than 250 years old

Toronto’s oldest tree will live on after city council made a last-minute decision to purchase the property on which it sits. The red oak, believed to be more than 250 years old, grows in the back yard of an older home in North York and was in jeopardy of being cut down if the adjacent home couldn’t be purchased.
